Through the DHCP server, computers request IP addresses as well as other parameters for the network needed for communication, and directly obtain them from the internet service provider (ISP). If this service is block by a firewall software it could be a reason why the workstation is unable to connect to the network. Configuring a static IP address rather than allowing automatic assignment of IP addresses could also lead to this problem
