Your principal says that an upcoming editorial endorsing a particular presidential candidate cannot run because the student publication represents the views of the school district, and the district is not allowed to take such positions. How could or would your staff handle this command?

Not true. You can legally battle the principal. I'm not a first amendment lunatic, but it is true that the school itself cannot endorse a candidate. However, student organizations can. This is protected under freedom of speech. The general rule is that school newspapers represent the voice of the students and not the district.
