WAN stands for Wide Area Network and LAN stands for the Local Area network.

Explanation:

WAN can be spanned throughout the country and any continent hence it can be connected to the cloud which is spread to a large area but LAN is restricted within the specific area within 1-5 km only.

LAN can be connected to the minimum of 2 computer system but the collection of LAN can be referred to as WAN so it covers a large area having the same or different kind of Operating system.

LAN gives fast speed in comparison with the WAN and its configuration is also easier than that of WAN.
