The instructions given by the nurse preceptor to the client were correct and appropriate. Oral intake after laryngoscopy is highly not recommended and may result in aspiration. It is best if the client does not drink or eat anything for about 2 hours after the procedure or until the client is able to swallow with ease without choking.
