All you have to do is have an available video port on your computer that's compatible with your second monitor (or get an appropriate adapter). Once it's powered on, Windows should automatically detect the second screen, BUT it won't do anything until you tell it to - which means you may not see the second screen show anything from Windows and that's normal.

To access the 2nd screen once windows finds it, then you have to hit the Start and the letter, "P" at the same time and it will show you your options. I usually use the expand option. Some people like the duplicate option to show off. Or you can make your other monitor your primary and turn the original one off. All your call!
