Though nowadays most of us are only familiar with paper pulps that are made from wood fibres, historically, the raw material for paper include linen, cotton rags, and hemp ropes.

Wood fibres, which come from trees, now are the most widely used raw material for paper pulps because of its abundance, efficient use, and cheaper cost.
