    As for this true or false trivia, the most probable answer and the most likely to be the correct one would be False.

    A cell that is currently selected would be called the active cell. Usually, when the excel is opened, the default active cell would be located on the upper left-most of the table or under the name of cell A1. Selecting multiple cells is very doable. Though there might be complications when there are merged and protected cells when changing their formats or something, merely selecting them would prove to be no sweat at all.
