    On IBM compatible computers (PCs) running a microsoft operating system such as windows or MS-DOS, the hard drive is the C: drive because it is the first avalible letter for hard drives. The computer assigns the A: and B: drives to floppy disks and somtimes other removalbe media such as tape drives.

    The C hard drive is the central internal hard drive in a computer it is the hard drive that comes inside the computer when you buy it and is non-removable
