    Metacognition is the cognition about a cognition and "thinking about the thinking" and "knowing about the knowing" and also becoming "aware of the one's awareness" and the higher-orders of thinking skills.

    Term Metacognition comes from a root word meta which means the "beyond", or "on the top of".

    An example of the metacognition includes an awareness that has difficulties in remembering the people's names in the social situations and reminding that they should be trying to remember the names of the persons just met.
