The software that interprets commands from keyboard and mouse is also known as the operating system. It is the system software that manages computer hardware and software resources and provides common services for computer programs. For hardware functions such as input and output like keyboard and mouse and memory allocation, the operating system acts an intermediary between programs and the computer hardware. Without a computer operating system, a computer and software programs would be useless. They cannot function without the operating system. For this reason, an operating system enables the computer hardware to communicate and operate with this computer software.
