What are the advantages and disadvantages to a home user of replacing dial-up Internet access with broadband?

    The advantages are speed of the connection. Adsl is usually faster than dial up. The fastest dial up is isdn which is 64kbs on a single line. I'm not sure there are any disadvantages? Maybe if any the cost of the hardware in the early days as it was more expensive to produce due to lack of scale?
