In addition, the authors provided details to support their position by providing 2013 survey results from 2,400 corporate e-mail users from a global perspective. The results indicated that two-thirds of the respondents stated that e-mail was their favorite form of business communication which surpassed not only social media but also telephone and in-person contact.

e-Mail is a critical component for information governance (IG) implementation.

    Explanation:

Information governance has to do with the way information is used and managed in an organisation and of the different media used to handle business information, none is as widely used as e-mails.

Security is a major aspect of information governance and with that in mind, it is important to note that e-mails are a lot more vulnerable to cyber attacks and less secure than the other media mentioned in the question.

For e-mails to be the most widely used and also the least secure, it shows that there is a big information governance problem and that is why it has become a critical component of IG implementation
