A rigid disk rotate more than a flexible disk as, the number of records of the disc type are available and the used of these rigid magnetic disk are highly surface finished. So, in order to achieved the highest bandwidth in terms of recording then, the magnetic transducer runs closed to the surface of the disc but the actual contact are avoided to preserve the surface of the disc.
