How does the Harvard architecture improve performance over the Von Neumann architecture?

The Harvard architecture is one of the type of computer architecture which basically separate the storage and the pathway for the data and instruction.

On the other hand, in the von neumann architecture the data are basically share the similar type of pathway and the memory in the system.

In the von neumann architecture, the single cache, memory can store both the data and the instruction. The hardware architecture are targeted as high performance system so that is why the caches are use in this type of architecture system.
