The GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card requires 120 W of power. You plan to install it in a PCIe 3.0 * 16 slot. Will you need to also install extra power to the card? If so, how can you do that?

    Yes, extra power is needed as PCIe 3.0*16 only supplys 75w to the card. In addition to the PCIe 3.0*16, a PCIe 3.0 is added to it.

    Expansion slot are used to add peripheral devices like adapters to a system motherboard. There are three types of expansion slot, they are the AGP, PCI and PCI express or PCIe

    Unlike PCI, PCIe are used for mainly video cards in 64 bit system (PCI is for 32 bit). PCIe are back dated ie PCIe 3.0*16 is compatible with PCIe 3.0 and can be used to supply more power to a video card like the Nvidia adapter series.
