    It is possible for a computer to prefer the older driver for a device or hardware to work rather than the latest version of the driver due to driver compatibility issues with the operating system. Drivers are a piece of software that tells the OS how to use and make a hardware work. It may be that there are features and updates included in the latest version of the driver that is not applicable to your currently installed OS. For this reason, it is preferable to roll back to the older version.
