Maintenance is the most important activity of software production and the most difficult to perform. Nevertheless, it is looked down on by many software professionals, and maintenance programmers often are paid less than developers. Do you think that this is reasonable? If not, how would you try to change it?

    It is unreasonable because the lifespan, relevance and usefulness of a software product is preserved through adequate and proper maintenance.

    When there is no maintenance it renders the work done by the original developer invalid. Maintaining a software goes beyond correcting fault, it also entails coming up with new updates, supplying additional environment.
