    The three main disadvantage if the IMAP as compared to the POP3 are as follows:

    The IMAP (Internet message access protocol) is the system which is complex to maintain and the IMAP host does not supported any type of protocol in the system. It mainly uses the hard drive storage space of the host for the users. IMAP is the type of cloud storage in the system and it is slower in the speed for loading the message as compared to POP3 as, it is the system in which the emails are manipulated more fastly or rapidly in the system. The IMAP emails are not available in the system in offline mode and sometime it is difficult to support the IMAP system.

    1) Access to mails without access to the internet is not possible, while POP3 clients can even download the email if there is no internet access.

    2) In case of intense use of the mail service, a large number of storage spaces on the server are needed while in POP3 no large storage is required

    3) The data generated with IMAP are not accessed using POP (the worst one is the input mailbox file).
