Hubs connect networks in parallel such that signals appear on all connections. Switches connect items based on LAN segments.
Explanation:
Hubs are not network addressable and are not packet based. Switches are packet based in that network traffic is directed to particular LAN (Local Area Network) segments based on Internet Protocol address.
Network traffic on HUBS is subject to high levels of collisions, where signals interfere with each other. This slows down the network traffic. Switches have much fewer collisions, resulting in effectively faster traffic speeds.
