Lead is obtained from the mineral galenite. The storage bin for the galenite must be able to hold 50,000 kg of galenite. If the density of galenite is 7.51 g/cm3, what volume does the storage bin need to be so as to hold the galenite

    Answer: 6.66*10^6 cm3 or

    6.66 m3

Explanation: density of galenite in g/cm3 = 7.51g/cm3 but in

    Kg/cm3 = (7.51g/cm3) / 1000

    = 7.51*10^-3 kg/cm3

    So the volume needed to hold 50000kg is = 50000 / (7.51*10^-3)

    V (cm3) = 6.66*10^6 cm3

    Or in m3 = (6.66*10^6) / (100^3)

    V (m3) = 6.66 m3
