    The work of the zener diode is to regulate the voltage across the load or in other words it opposes the change in the output voltage and it also keeps it constant.

    Thus, whatever be the change in the input voltage the drop across the zener remains the constant. Only the amount of the current flowing through it may vary which means it may change.
