Dr. Cohen wanted to study whether gender stereotypes exist in the technology industry. She gave a resume to staff members at a tech company. Half of the staff were told that the applicant was male and half were told that the applicant was female even though they were all given the same resume. Dr. Cohen asked both sets of participants whether or not they would hire the applicant and calculated how many "males" vs "females" were offered the job. Answer:An independent variable is gender and dependent variable is number of job offers.

    Explanation:What's an independent variable?

    - An independent variable doesn't get changed by other variables which are involved in an experiment or research.

Like gender can't be changed or be manipulated by other variables in a research or study. Independent variable is the one that will cause a change in the other variables that you are trying to observe or measure i. e dependent variable

    What's a dependent variable?

    - independent variable is a variable dependent on the independent variable so it can be manipulated depending on the independent variable such as getting a job in this case is dependent on one's gender
