    Antonio was a rich merchant of Venice, who was known as a good man with high integrity, and of good friendship towards others, he was not wasteful in his resources and had the ability to secure his money.

    Explanation:

    Antonio, the rich merchant is not prodigal.

    The reason is because, he is seen or described as a good man, a man whom was loved for his integrity, his disinterested liberality, and was equally devoted in friendship.

    When compared with Bassanio. Antonio is a merchant who keeps the money secure and avoids being extravagant life, he was not as wasteful in spending as Bassanio.
