What is Henry Fleming's internal conflict in the Red Badge of Courage?

Henry's internal conflicts is about courage itself. In the beginning, he joined the war to prove to himself how brave he was and that he could be one of those people defending his country, but throughout the novel we see his courage faltering - he questions his courage, and realizes that it might have been better not to participate in the war at all. He wonders whether he should fight bravely or escape and save his life. He also feels ashamed when he encounters wounded soldiers when he himself is unharmed due to him running away from the battle, unbeknownst to other soldiers.
