Can anyone give me a quick summary of the book "the things they carried"

The book "The Things They Carried" is a collection of short stories written by Tim O'Brien. These short stories are about a group of American soldiers in Vietnam War and are based on his experiences as a soldier in the Vietnam war. O'Brien chooses not to debate the political rationale behind the war and the reasons why the USA became involved in the Vietnam War. He has, however, become disillusioned and frustrated with the lack of understanding and ignorance he perceives about the people back home in the USA. This is the rationale behind the writing of this collection of short stories. Many of the characters in the different stories are autobiographical in a sense and they appear in the different stories in the book.
