Read the excerpt below and answer the question. Q: Could Faustus have been saved? How? Sal15: Of course he could have been saved. Like the Old Man said, he needed to repent, and then he would have been saved. AmandaK95: Faustus was too far gone toward evil to have been saved. His soul was black. SkooledJ: Faustus was caught in Lucifer's trap. Once he signed away his soul, the devil would never have let him be saved but would use tricks, temptations, and torment to keep him captive. TotallyAwesome: In Marlowe's Christian world, God is more powerful than Lucifer. If Faustus had wanted salvation, he only needed to have the courage to repent and then accept God's grace. Lucifer could not have stopped it. Write your own response to this web conversation thread. In it, respond to at least two of the preceding comments.

Clashspores: Indeed! Had he have wanted it, Faustus could have repented and be saved by God's grace, because God is greater than the Devil. But, what is God to do if the sinner does not repent?

Clashspores: No trick or temptation could have kept him caged if he had accepted God's in his heart. If only Faustus had been truly remorseful of his actions, God would have welcomed him in Heaven, for he is gracious and all-forgiving.
