If we take a look at the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings, one of the themes is how hobbits seem very insignificant and simple, but they end up resolving the biggest problems. In Desolation of Smaug, Bilbo uses his sword and the ring to kill the spiders and eventually rescue the dwarves. He is loyal to his friends, righteous, and coragious. In an Unexpected journey, he escapes the goblin caves. Gandalf said about Hobbits that you can learn everything about them, but hunred years after, they will still surprise you.
