    Job was a prosperous and pious man who was afflicted with many hardships (broght by Satan, but allowed by God) in order to test his faith (he lost his children and possessions, and is afflicted by a terrible disease). But Job kept believing and humbled himself before God, Who restored Job's prosperity.
