What made common sense particularly effective in persuading Americans to support the revolution?

The common sense that could be appealed to in the Americans to support the revolution against the British was mostly related to colonialism. In other words, all their land and all their resources were at the beck and call of the British colonial power and were utilized according to the wishes of that foreign country rather than to serve the needs of the American people.
