What does Scout mean when she suggests that telling the truth about Bob Ewell's death would be like "shooting a mockingbird"?

Boo is too confused to understand what he did.

Boo harms no one, and would suffer in the attention.

Boo is a sinner.

Boo would be convicted like Tom was.

    Boo looked after the kids & even killed to protect them. Telling the truth about how Bob died would make the town loathe Boo even more than they already do. Turning him in and making him face that fate would be like killing a mockingbird who has done nothing but "sing" for scout and jem.
