Why did Shirley Chisholm most likely speak about police brutality, prison, reform, gun control and drug abuse when she ran for president in 1972?

    She spoke about police brutality, prison reform, drug abuse and gun control because all these crimes all were all issues that were not spoken about seriously in that time due to the focus on overseas conflicts. Also, it affected the most is the underprivileged and impoverished people of the US civilization as well as the unequal number of black Americans and these were her some of her main constituents.
