    Explanation:

    It was a revival movement. It affected Britain and the 13 colonies as well. The so called Enlightment was the reason for people to react to knowing more and at the same time the Awakening was responsible for the rebirth of spirituality. Americans, mostly, wanted to experience their own beiefs, those born from their private experience and not from religious traditions imposed on them.
