    Artifacts not only support a claim, many times the claim only exists because of the artifacts.

    Archaeologists might prove what many historians suspect by finding old pottery, statues, cities and many other things that prove all the speculations.

    For example, we don't know exactly how the Egyptians made their pyramids. If they had written something about it on a papyrus, for example, we could confirm how they did it. But because of what they did write down, we know a lot about their culture, dynasties and even medicine.

    Also, we know a lot about their society because of their art, temples and monuments as well.
