The Soothsayer is an archetype in The Tragedy of Julius Caesar because there are so many similar characters to him in other works of art. An archetype is a typical example of something or somebody - here, the soothsayer, or the fortune teller, is the archetype of somebody warning the protagonist against what something bad that is going to happen to them in the near future, and the protagonist usually doesn't believe the fortune teller.
