I would say that the central idea in Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar is definitely betrayal.

It tells us the story of how Brutus betrayed Julius Caesar and led to his death. Although there are fear and love involved, they are not the most crucial themes in the play. There is not a lot of comedy, given that this play is a tragedy.
