    I would say it is important to distinguish fact from opinion in an essay because C. essays, particularly formal ones, persuade or inform the audience on a topic, thus requiring details that can be proven.

    You need to use real facts if you want to persuade somebody into believing you, not just to present your own thoughts and opinions.
