How many sentences would be included if the following lines from "Mowing" were read aloud? There was never a sound beside the wood but one, and that was my long scythe whispering to the ground. A. None B. One C. Two D. Three (I already know that the answer is not two)

    If you know the answer is not two, it must be B. One. Technically, there is only one sentence, which is a compound sentence. Usually, a compound sentence is basically two sentences combined using a comma and a coordinating conjunction - - in this case, 'and.' However, the question stating "if it were read aloud" seems odd. Maybe it's implying that someone may spererate them in speech, which means the answer would be C. Two, but you said you know that's not the answer. So, the answer must be B. One.
