in the book "the diary of a young girl" why does Anne start her diary entries with the words dear kitty?

    Anne starts her diary entries with the words "Dear Kitty" because she knows that no one will understand what she is talking about if she begins her letters to Kitty ... Also Anne is a very good writer for her age. It seems as if she is still living because her writing is talking about her day.
