The colonization of Western (specifically Europe) powers occurred so rapidly during the New Age of Imperialism because of their aggressiveness towards creating a colonial power which is beneficial to their side. By 1870's and 1914, they've had a massive acceleration in terms of their technology, sciences, machinery and even their industry that also caused the domination of other continents like Asia and Africa. They have overruled those countries for they have the power and the national greatness.
