What is the theme of The Nest by Violet Sorzano?

I think the central theme for this one man vs self. The story started when Randal decided to hike the woods by himself but then he got lost. Randall had tried to fight himself from the loneliness and fear that he was feeling. He was about to surrender when he saw an eagle passed by, he was having an internal battle whether he should follow the eagle or not. He followed his instinct and eventually he was able to get back to his family.
