    A. People will continue to do bad things if they know they can blame it on their social surroundings.

    B. A person's capacity for good or evil can change based on their social environment.

    D. Evil actions are justified if a person is in a challenging social situation.

Phillip Zimbardo is an American psychologist who is best known for his famous 1971 experiment Stanford prison experiment. In this experiment, subjects were labelled "guards" or "prisoners," and were asked to embrace these roles. The struggle between the two groups resulted in abuses of power and psychological torture in many cases, with people becoming emboldened by their newly-found authority. The experiment showed that people are not necessarily "good" or "evil." Instead, a person's capacity for good or evil can change based on their social environment.

zimbardo proved that the line between good and evil is permeable i. e people can easily move from good to evil if given the right justification for it, if given the right cause or even the right urging. Also it can be seen that people will do evil if they can be convinced by themselves or an external party that it is for good, and also if they were shielded away from society and responsibilities through actions like wearing a mask or even face painting.
