The word ignorant in line three of the poem "No Second Troy" refers to the ordinary people of Ireland who where instigated to use violence against the British rulers by Maud Gonne. The whole poem is a critical opinion about Gonne's revolutionary methods to defeat the British rulers. In the following line, the poet criticizes her for hurling the little streets upon the great, which reinforces the idea of ordinary people compelled to fight against the most powerful.
