    In the beginning of "The Awakening," by Kate Chopin, Leonce dislikes the noise in the house and leaves the main room to the privacy of his cottage to smoke a cigar indoords and watch his wife Edna and his son. They, on the other hand, are on the beach quite enjoying the weather. Leonce notices Edna is sunburnt, which means she has spent some time outdoords.
