Thomas Paine needed his message to spread and convince as many people as possible. This is why he uses logic - he writes and argument anticipates an opposing argument and refutes it right after -. He uses emotions that he knows people from America know and feel. He uses simple plain arguments so his idea is spread to all and the most simple man can understand it. He didn't use latin or difficult words and used biblical references so he could connect even more with people.
