Why do you think Captain Renault doesn't arrest Rick at the end of the movie Casablanca (time code 1:40:30) ? How might an audience in 1942 have interpreted this action given the nationalities of the characters and the political situation at the time?

The correct answer is that the reason Captain Renault does not arrest Ricky after he killed the man, is because he finally realized that the power they have in Casablanca isnt everything that there is so much more that was going on than just himself and his power.

    Explanation:

The audience is 1942 may have not believe it as the tensions that were happening in those moments but could also give hope as it could show the best on people and that everyone can make it.
