    Liz is not wealthy, but does her best to present herself nicely.

    This is the best answer to the question. In the passage it says that her clothes were "well-fitting and not without style" (Paragraph 24). This shows that she tries to dress as best as she can since her clothes fit her correctly and they have style rather than being old-fashioned. However, the paragraph also show that "her shoes were run down over twisted high heels, and were strangers to polish" (Paragraph 24). This shows that she does not have a lot of money to afford new things and she does the best she can with what she has.
