What is the meaning of "pastoral" in the following sentence:

My dad is there, too, hugging her from behind, and from the looks of it, they're somewhere rural-maybe some pastoral patch of small-town New Jersey where they met.

    Pastoral, here, is meant as a pasture or a place where sheep and cows eat.

    Land, or field where animals such as Sheep, and cows devour the land with their huge appetites ... just an example.
