What is the effect of envisioning "aged years" as needing a staff in these lines from the passage?

    The effect of envisioning "aged years" as needing a staff in these lines from the passage "It evokes the comfort that the elderly feel knowing that a younger generation will replace them." It made the reader feel of the importance of why the young ones were born into this world, that they have a purpose, and that the elderly are happy to know that the world would not be lonely without them.
