Jonathan Edwards gave sermons based on his beliefs of God and the puritan religion. "Sinners in the hand of an angry God" basically stated when it came time for them to have a judgement day, God would not be merciful. Edwards sermons frightened his audience. Hours worth of sermons. Emotions however displayed. Sometimes out in the audience he received scarred screams and some may have even been crying from the way he described hell in his speeches.
