Simon Birch was happy through out the movie even when he went swimming with Joe, he was very happy through out because Joe made him happy and He wanted Joe to trust God. He became angry with His parent when he saw they didn't care whether he stays over with Joe. He shows level of generosity by going back to save a boy in the bus who was stuck in sinking bus.
